Pulpotomy

A pulpotomy, also called pulp therapy, is a procedure performed when the inner pulp of a tooth is damaged, but the infection has not yet reached the root of the pulp. A pediatric pulpotomy preserves your child's tooth and its remaining pulp by removing only the damaged portions. Essentially, pulp therapy serves as a root canal treatment for baby teeth, enabling us to save the tooth.

Is pediatric pulp therapy necessary for my child?

Although each child is unique, here are a few typical indicators listed that you can observe in your young child:

They are expressing their dissatisfaction with experiencing tooth pain both during the day and at night.

Tooth sensitivity occurs when individuals consume hot or cold substances.

One of their teeth is exhibiting swelling or redness.

If your child is showing any of these symptoms, please contact our office immediately to schedule a consultation.

What are the consequences of not receiving treatment?

If your child does not undergo a pediatric pulpotomy, there is a risk of losing the tooth or having it extracted earlier than expected. This risk can lead to the remaining teeth shifting and impacting their bite alignment, causing problems when permanent teeth emerge.
